Sak pase Amigas/Amigos! Yesssss I know it's been a minute since I wrote ya cuz as usual I BEEN A LAZY PROCRASTINATOR at the same dayum time! But I managed to get it together long enough to write a new post!

But before I begin to tell you about my past weekend adventures, be sure to come check me out as I host "Passport Saturday: International Day Party" with DJ Salah Ananse, Nik G and Eddie Dupont at Sountable Saturday August 31st from 2pm-8pm. Dance till your feet fall off, dj's spinning the best in Soca, Zouk, African, Kompa, Reggae and House music!

The past two weekends I was able to drag my wonderful friends and family into joining me in my shananigans. I managed to make it to the Basic Hair Care System Launch, Latino Festival Atlanta and Caribbean Picnic (Beres Hammond, Maxi Priest and Alison Hinds concert) and had a BLAST. Won't write much, the pictures below shall speak for themselves!

The Basic Hair Care Launch was great! You can't beat free food and open bar hair event! What's there not to like! It was tastefully done.

Unforch we didn't stay for the show. We decided to hit up Cafe Circa before we turned into pumpkins before our bedtime cuz we iz old!

Below are just some collages of both weekends. I had an AMAZEBALLS time! Enjoy pics...

The Baddest Colorist in the game

Dear Ahmurrica, (yes, I mean to make all my gramatical errors in this blog) sorry I haven’t written anything in a long time. That son of mine done wore me out y’all! But I manage to muster up a little bit of energy to at least talk about my favorite subject, HAIR! So today and just about every day I get asked “Who does your color?” and I answer my most fareeken awesomest mother in law Michelle Sadler! She is the baddest colorist in the game son!

This lady is BAAAAAHHHD!

She and her business partner Diane have a salon in DC and Greenbelt, MD called Cole Stevens. They have so many famous and well known clients as well being featured in Essence magazine and participate in various well known hair shows! I got very lucky by marrying her son. She keeps my wig split y’all (makes my hair pretty! She has taught me about all things hair! If ever in the DMV area, I would HIGHLY recommend, Cole Stevens. Did I mention they specialize in natural hair and hydration therapy??? Yes, the pics below have ZERO relaxer, ALL NATURAL. Cole Stevens did that!!!

My cousin getting her natural hair done with Fabianne, one of the stylist:

After, we izzzzzz brannnnd new! Can't tell us NOTHING:

My mother in law did the color and cut:

If ever in DC, go see Michelle Sadler at Cole Stevens!

Birthdays, Curls & Cocktails

Sorry it’s taken so long to post something. My son has been one sick miserable teething baby and I had to handle some bizznazz! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was a very pleasant weekend annnnd my mama was in town!!! When mama’s come to town, life is ALWAYS great! Cuz I swear when you become a mom you somehow gain super strength powers but your powers increase once you’re a grandma! My mom’s powers puts my super mom powers to shame!

You see folks there’s me…

But then there’s grandma! ***SOUNDS AIRHORN***

Ok back to my story (focus Suze)

This weekend I partied like it was 1999. Two of my most dearest friend’s Karina and Natalie celebrated birthdays, as well as Curls & Cocktails winning weekend with the fabulous Miss Kenya aka Halfietruths on IG and her blog www.halfietruths.wordpress.com). Miss Kenya hosts and throws an event called Curls & Cocktails where curly girls meet up.

With my mom, niece and baby boy in tow, we headed to Cruzado on a wonderful Saturday afternoon to meet Curly headed beauties from all over Atlanta to discuss NATURAL HAIR! I met Miss HalfieTruths for the first time and she is a sweetheart and looked just as amazing as she does in her pics! She and her hair can do no wrong! I tried to convince my hubby to stay but he fell asleep just by me asking. He and my stepson opted for the Wolverine flick instead.

All in all I had a great time and look forward to the next natural hair meet up!

My Dominican Cuban sister Karina who also launched her Purple Heart Company did it big! I only managed to make it to 1 of the 5 events this chick had going on (Bennihanna). And of course my other fabulous Jamaican Chinese sister Natalie over at Metro Fuxon! Lots of wonderful culture, great music, good food and curls all mashed up into one!

CARNIVAL SEASON!

For those of you who do not know, I’m a million percent West Indian! And in pure Caribbean culture, we love us some Carnival!!!

For all y’all who don’t know what carnival is, it’s an annual celebration of life and independence found in many countries of the world.  Trinidad's carnival is a beautiful example of how carnival can unite the world. People from ALL OVER THE WORLD flock to the island of Trinidad just to participate. Just think of a HUGE moving block party full of happy people (playing MAS), women in beautiful feather costumes, great music, dancing and most importantly, RUM! Yeah, I said rum, we love rum dammit, don’t judge us! Wonderful, beautiful meet for the very first time and have the BEST TIME EVER. At carnival, you leave all your worries behind. No one cares about your financial status, what you do, where you live or what you drive. People are there to just have a good time.

From cooler fetes, flag parties, to Jouvert, to carnival day, it’s literally a five day non-stop , back to back celebration! This is the time, some of us hit the gym to get our bodies right to endure the long day in the heat while drinking and dancing, in addition to wearing those tiny outfits! It is by far one of the BEST times of my life since I was a child! So enjoy the pics below, of all the carnivals my friends and I have participated in all over the world. **WARNING** This blog is full of pics…
